In 2013, a pipe that supplies water to about 70,000 people in Halle-Neustadt and parts of the western Saalekreis in Germany was greatly damaged due to severe flooding. Brochier, the German based construction company selected to rebuild the pipeline in 2018, choose TDC International to coat the pipeline and field joints with the standard 5mm pau wrap®.

Due to the geological and geographical circumstances of the project, it was decided to use a more environmentally friendly approach, the horizontal directional drilling method. Peter Theuerkorn from the municipal utility subsidiary HWS said, “Speaking from a construction point of view, the project was a challenge and a very demanding process, but we are proud with the results.”

Wolf Schrader, Sales Manager at TDC International said, “We are satisfied of our work and involvement in this project. As one of the leading GRP coating companies within the pipeline industry, we understand the importance of providing high services to communities as well as using methods that are more sustainable for our environment. Our collaboration with Brochier was productive, successful and constructive and we are happy with the results.”

One of the leading German pipeline construction magazines, B_I Medien, published an article about TDC International’s role in the coating of pipes for the natural reserve Passendorfer Wiesen. The complete German article can be downloaded HERE and TDC International’s case study can be read HERE.
